Thank you so much Karen, I am mostly lurking lately. Had no more problems regarding Lovey. She sustained no injuries falling from the attic to the first floor which amazed all of us. Still waiting for contractor to repair wall and hole in attic. The expense of doing so will be worth every penny spent to do it. We did get a latched installed on the door to the attic, though so none of the three have assess to it. I had Libby neutered, licensed and a chip put in him. He still tries to sneak out the door, but he has started coming back to the front door to get back in so that is acceptable to me. He has settled down some but still giving Lovey some hard times. He is very territorial and I think just jealous of her for the most part. Does not bother Pitty Poo at all. He is still growing to be a very large cat who eats a lot. <gg>
BUT, 2011 has not started out as a good year for us. Lost one of my lunch bunch friends the 2nd of Jan., a close friend had his second stroke, a hemorrhagic one but had no loss of speech or paralysis which was a miracle for him. His daughter told me he slept a whole month before completely waking up. He did have to move out of his home to an assisted living one. My only sister passed away on Feb. 17th almost a month after her 88th birthday. She had been in the hospital about three weeks where they rushed her one night with terrible pains in her stomach. Had an obstructed colon and a hernia. Came through the surgery fine but developed an infection at the surgery sight which led to her having double pneumonia. Put her in Hospice Thursday morning and she passed that evening at 9:20 p.m. We were due to go up there the next morning but got the call to stay home. Her Memorial Service was held at her oldest daughter's home the 5th of March and it was the most heartwarming and inspirational ceremony I have ever attended in my whole life.
My niece hired this company and a woman came with her birds and talked with all of us. Her birds were actually homing pigeons instead of doves for a reason. She had a single little house with a heart on the door which was my sister's spirit and three more in a little Church model which were to be the spirits of The Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. She had each of us touch or stroke the bird and then she handed it to my sister's only son with his two sisters standing by him. They each said a prayer for their Mom and he released it and the lady opened the little Church door and the others flew out. The four of them flew and circled all of us twice and then flew off going back to their home base. Also my niece had a fairly large group of purple balloons and we each wrote a note to my sister which were attached to them and they released those. There was a pretty strong wind that day so they disappeared rather quickly. My niece served a large delicious buffet with all kinds of desserts. Every one was so moved by this service and no one there had ever seen anything like it before either. It was fun to see all the kin again and everyone left with lifted spirits.
My niece told me this lady provides this service for many children and adults who have died of Cancer and told she has a thriving business doing so. She read an article written about her and decided what a wonderful way for her and her siblings to honor their Mother. I believe my Sister would have been proud of her children for doing this. I will miss her so much but do have a lifetime of memories of times we had shared together.
I have been fairly overwhelmed with all the above happening and resting more than usual as seem to be fatigued. Going into my tenth year of survival so not complaining at all. Some relief comes with that number and hope that stays for a good ten more. My husband and I are the lone survivors of our families now, he the oldest and me the youngest of our families.
The world news has been upsetting also and hate to read all of the devastation going on. Happy Gifford's recovery is moving along so quickly. Her doctor's are marveled at the pace she has recovered and breathing on her own and speaking sentences as well. Memory seems in tack and husband told her she had been shot. Not been told of other deaths or victims that survived and blessed for that. They are guarded that she will be able to attend her husband's lift on April 19th but say it is highly possible she will do that along with her private nurse. Plan to close the part of her skull they removed because of swelling in May but say that will not hamper her traveling.
Our next event will be my husband's birthday and arrival of our fourth great grandchild, a boy instead of our hopes for a girl to even their family out. They plan to move into a larger home sometime this year. They have staged their home, packed and stored all the extra stuff to make it show better and plan to keep it stored until they move out. We now also hope for a healthy and calm little one.
I try to stay up with the Gits and messages are quite plentiful, I see. Still feel it is the safest thread on SI and best of all the internet threads.
Has anyone else read some of the stuff being posted about the end of America as we have known it? The devalue of our currency being the worst ever and those that want to keep borrowing from the SS funds or printing money until the Federal Reserve is depleted which will make the dollar worthless. Never imagined I would live to see the changes and destruction that has transpired since Obama became our President. Hoping and praying the election in 2012 brings a "Healthy Change" from this administration's actions.
Back to lurking, getting ready to go to dinner. Do enjoy keeping up with all your posts. Our Spring weather is here and time to replace all the plants and shrubs that did not make it. Starting to do so next week although we usually have a cold front come in at Easter time but no freezing weather. I am anxious to see blooming plants again. Our azaleas are late in blooming and should finally open within the next couple days. |
