Hawkmoon, we do not know what happen behind the scenes in Egypt, but the way Mubarak was forced out it did not add to stability in the region. Libya revolt was not prepared in advance it seems it was spontaneous and with only verbal encouragement which was perceived that it will end as in Egypt.

Clarity was missing and inconsistence abounded. Qaddafi could have been ousted 10 days ago easily with minimal risk. Now the whole thing is a mess .... and thousands died or are maimed and the US standing in the ME is at its lowest level ever, as it is perceived that BO betrayed Mubarak, a close friend of the US and EU, and BO mislead the Libyan people, who were hoping for help if things will go wrong – and they did to date.

No matter if right or wrong this is the perception with 700 to 1 billion Muslims but the perceived lesson for those people is that the US can not be trusted and they are all talk and BS - US deterence is gone - this will cost more lives.

IMHO the US and EU are in a corner they need to facilitate the downfall of Quadaffi or state sponsored terror will start again
