DAMN this thread is full of junk!!!
I've made nice $$$ in NN a few years back but had bought into the "ATM is Dead" mantra and made out like a bandit in MRVC and other non-ATM networkers for the past 2 years.
Recently, I've begun to believe that ATM is not dead just stalled for a while and about to come to life in the next 2 years! And checking out NN's performance since the beginning of the year I'd say I'm not alone! After digesting over 700 posts of the more than 2000 "new" I had listed with this bookmark, I have to totally agree with Nick...garbage, rah-rah's, and novices have taken over this thread!
From my quick analysis, NN is way ahead of itself even at these levels ($44)! A current p/e of around 68 while expected to grow at 22% in '98 and 40% in '99 is ludicrous, especially considering they turned in FLAT numbers recently!!! With about 18% of revenues coming from Asia their numbers are going to be under extreme pressure for AT LEAST the next year because of the competitive devaluations taking place over there!
I suspect those flat numbers are a direct result of the enormous headway that GE has garnered! Why isn't NN considering acquiring a GE type networker in order to capitalize on the expanding technology and position itself to upgrade those products SEAMLESSLY WHEN ATM finally sees the light of day!!??!!
Is their strategy simply to hold the line until their day comes? If that is the case, they just might get leap-frogged by these pesky startups and that 800lb gorilla named Cisco!!! Maybe they are waiting for that 5 ton dinasaur INTEL to make its' splash in networking! "INTEL INSIDE" works VERY well! Can you imagine what kinds of headaches NN would have if Intel bought FORE and exercised their MRVC options!!??!!
I see me getting back into NN BELOW $32 in the NEXT 4 months!!! For you long-termers, not to worry...this stock will hit $100 by 2000!!! Also, when the hell are they going to get a clue and relocate to the good ole U.S. of A.!!!
Please let me know if my analysis is missing anything, and I apologize in advance for pouring water on some of you...but these are critical times that require unbiased analysis and comprehensive insights into the macro and micro fundamentals of a specific stock, its' industry, and the Market in general!!!
