I think tsunamis cause greater damage than just a earthquake. So if the rocking is in the desert, then that should be OK. But tif it is in the ocean such as in north Northern California such as in Crescent City etc. then it could generate a tsunami which could destroy the Golden Gate bridge and flood and cause damage to the bay area.

In the NW,, you folks have a very dangerous fault with the potential to cause tsunamis since the fault lies underneath the ocean floor.

Anyway, let us hope and pray it does not shake as it did in Japan, and NZ recently. Usually they say it comes in 3's. who knows if the west coast of US is next or if it is the west coast of the South American continent.
