This has been an interesting exercise in salesmanship. First, the earthquake "wasn't an issue" and the markets went on their merry way. Then a little realism. Then, it was "no unless a complete meltdown occurs, it's not a major issue," never mind the fact that it's looked like since day 1 that a meltdown was a real possibility. Wall Street sells optimism, and they've been pulling out all the stops in the last several days. Looks like they may have run out of bullets . . . until the "look at the rebuilding opportunity" (but that may be decades away near the reactors).
