thanks -- the detailed comments are of some interest as would be even more comments by the engineer.

The article makes another point very well. In the "liability chain" are not only the operators -- but also the agencies that approved the operating procedures ... honestly, I think GE is far down the list. I would also say if history is any guide, the markets first read is usually wrong --- has GE outdone the general market decline??

It clearly isn't a BP -- so I shouldn't say this: But does anyone remember the short-BP-to-zero guy, who hyped the spill NEVER being stopped?? Made it sound as if the whole gulf was toast??

In the beginning stages of anything like this -- there is understatement and exaggeration present in abundance until the situation is really known.
