I think you hit it on the head right there. Brocade's FL_ports is not new. It allows for the connections of hubs to provide FC_AL support. Ancor had them with the old switch I believe. But, the performance of a configuration like this is inferior to the MKII's where FC_AL support is right on the switch. It is my understanding that SUN made that a requirement. Brocade does make it sound good.
