I wanted to make people laugh

The sad part about that story is that without CAFE requirements and political pressures, the Volt would never have been produced. It's a money loser for GM and always will be, but they needed its CAFE numbers to offset otherwise unworkable MPG requirements.

Aside from that, GM, as well as Chrysler and Ford, are making some good cars these days, in spite of the UAW and political interference. However, the days of consumers and market choice driving auto design are past history. In just a few years the only cars available for Joe SixPack will be little econo-crackerboxes.

Of course there will still be Ferraris and Bentleys for those with big $$'s..
