Most of the top US colleges are of the small liberal arts variety. They are usually D2 and D3. Of the larger top academic D1 schools, yes, not many are basketball (or sports in general) powerhouses. The Ivies (D1-A) are not even allowed to recruit. colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com - Jeff
