Actually, the Ivies' recruiting process is very similar to other D1 schools. While NCAA regulations prohibit coaches from contacting an athlete by telephone, in-person, or by off-campus visits prior to July 1 before the recruit's senior year, coaches are allowed to mail information about the school and answer questions about the team in writing before that date.

The big differences are in athletic scholarships, which the Ivies don't offer, and the timing of the admissions offer. The Ivies also have an academic index which must be satisfied for all student athletes.
