Ben - In equilibrium, we should see the amount of short interest drop by the amount of shares issued in PITC merger, (about 7MM), and the 4mm or so shares issued in bondholder consents. Bondholder shorts covered in Jan '98. PITC covered late Oct, early Nov.

n.b., th is doesn't mean short interest will go down exactly this amount. Could be more or less depending on "pure shorts". I do think the short interest will drop a lot after PITC & bond shares accounted for. If not, then that would imply lots of new "pure shorts". A great thing if you are a confident LT bull.
