Simula Inc. (NYSE: SMU - news) today announced increased revenues and a
net loss for the company's third quarter ended September 30, 1997.

Revenues for the three months ended September 30, 1997 increased 83% to $23.6 million from $12.9 million for the
comparable period in 1996. Revenues for the nine months ended September 30, 1997 increased 25% to $61.5 million
from $49.3 million for the same period in 1996. The increases in revenues are attributable to significant increases in
sales of the company's 16g seat for commercial airliners and sales of its Inflatable Tubular Structure for automobiles.

The company reported a net loss of $(2.4) million or $(0.26) per share for the third quarter of 1997 as compared to a
net loss of $(2.1) million or $(0.23) per share during the same period in 1996. The company also reported a net loss
for the nine month period ended September 30, 1997 of $(2.9) million or $(0.32) per share as compared to the loss
before the effect of a change of accounting principle of $(2.3) million or $(0.26) per share for the same period in 1996.
The net loss for the nine month period ended September 30, 1996 was $(5.5) million or $(0.62) per share and included
a cumulative charge of $(3.2) million for the effect of an accounting change.
