If these guys were "sport shooting" locals, a court will handle it.

But let's be real about "trophy" pictures of dead enemy soldiers. It's as old as photography and in thousands of former soldier's collections.

The famous one that comes to mind is Patton during the Mexico excursion in 1916. With the men he shot on the Fenders of his Dodge car.
