An elderly man once gave me a present - some medals and various insignia which he took off some dead Nazi soldiers and officers whom he personally killed. The guy didn't give it any excessive amount of thought, and had no doubts about the issue. And why should he? If he wouldn't be victorious in those encounters, he'd be the one who would be dead. War is war.
