Using a solid state drive (SSD) with Windows XP?

SSDs apparently work well with Windows 7 that has the TRIM function built into it. Maybe not so with XP. There is something about the SSDs I don't really understand but they need their cells written to and erased according to a certain pattern to maintain their speed and dependability. Can I make an SSD work with my machines that all have XP SP3 installed?

Any comments about them from users here?

Thanks......
