I see [polygamy] as a Muslim practice. Western Civ pretty well rejects it. I find I agree with his POV generally.

That's not accurate, Bill. Sub-Saharan Africa and much of non-Islamic East Asia also practiced or still practices traditional polygamy.

For that matter, the Jews practiced polygamy until about 1000 CE in Europe, and until recently in the Mideast. A lot of Mizrahi Jews were dismayed to find that Israel forbade polygamy.
