Al, > I have never dodged defense of the GM bailout...and I have never sought to silence anyone, nor do I claim to be able to.

You could have simply said that you trust GM's claims that they'll increase production capacities of the Volt and reduce costs.

Of course, in a free market some company (maybe Ford?) would have bought up the Volt designs and continued its R&D, had GM been allowed to fail.

But since GM isn't allowed to fail, the Volt is now fair game for partisan politics.

And as it stands right now, the Volt isn't even close to being viable, except as an "eco status symbol." $40K sticker price (minus a taxpayer-funded $7500 "credit") is insane. And it's doubtful that GM is even making a profit per sale.

Excuses like "GM is gradually and carefully introducing the Volt to the market" are weak. First impressions are key, as any marketeeer knows.

That's where your defense of GM's bailout falls apart and you have to resort to ad hominem attacks, straw men, and other ways to get the opposition to shut up. Not that you claim to be able to, but your motives are clear:
