Re: Polite Society: True, in the earlier days of this country, "polite society" didn't talk about religion nor politics. "Polite society" used to mean men and women together. The men of yesteryear would 'repair' to the drawing room, to enjoy their talks about religion and politics, while smoking their cigars and drinking port or sherry or whatever. The ladies went to another room of the house or meeting place, where they discussed homemaking, maybe new books, or new ideas, etc.
Today, I've found that most of the Left won't discuss politics, because they are mostly emotion driven, don't have a variety of sources to point to, and know they will lose their POV to perhaps a stronger and more balanced argument.
So they just don't discuss anything. Nor do most of them read much of anything. Most of them are so sure they are correct in their POV that they just shrug it off, and go on about their merry way, believing what they want to believe and not challenging their own emotional belief system.
"They will vote the way they've always voted, thank you very much"....
I wonder with so much going on (and not in a positive direction either) in this past two years if some of these folks are quietly questioning their own belief system, and wondering if they "could" be wrong....
How much longer will these folks continue to blame GWB for everything when they can see themselves who is supposed to be in charge, and the result. |
