I believe nuclear power remains a good risk. And I think storage under Yucca mountain in Nevada is a smart move for the US. However, I'm a realist, I don't ever expect Reid to support it. What was clearly stupid of the Japanese was the placement of the diesel generators. Backup systems planning and testing is quite important, obviously they never thought that one through. They will for the dozens of other nukes they have around their country. As a culture they like to redesign things. for future nukes, I'd like to see the US resurrect its Thorium based pebble style generators.

I think Kudlow makes a good point about government setting a national strategy for energy, including drilling and nukes. Nothing wrong about that in my book except maybe Larry's theatrics.

You can argue the issue of the half life of oil supplies found in the ground, till the cows come home, in the mean time I will continue to be a bull on ExxonMobil. Today they just announced their four facilities in Japan are cranking in excess of their top stated capacity to help that country play catchup energywise. They also announced that they've received the go ahead from the US government for their exploratory drilling resuming in the Gulf deep water. So drill baby drill! Too bad it isn't ANWR, maybe someday, one can hope.

I made a lot of money in January and February, not so much in March, generally some paper losses but I think that will turn around by month end. Worse case, I hold out for the dividend. Should do a lot better than last year by year end.
