Yes, that's a fine conclusion, Steve. That msg you responded to was in response to a series of msgs between Shalom & me after he said he didn't understand what I was saying in the first message. So, in the one you responded to, I finally mentioned what I was thinking of that led to the comment about studying the real thing vs the counterfeit.
A saying that comes to mind is, that we are known by the company we keep. We can't & shouldn't try to isolate ourselves from the world at large, because that would be hiding our lamps under a bushel basket, so to speak. But by meditating on and conversing about God, and flipping the Bible pages to look up what each other is making reference to, we are doing something to "keep company" with God and I believe that even so much as thinking about God can be a huge benefit/blessing.
The issue of the world seeing the real Jesus in us - Jesus and John the Baptist put the answer to the question, "What do we do now?" so simply: in, for example, Luke 3:8 thru 14, and Matthew 22:36 thru 40.
I'm coming to the conclusion (let me know if you think I'm in error or on the right track here) that in "speaking" with those in cyberspace who are not yet believers (in born-again sense), a little Scripture goes a long way and too much gives them kind of like an overdose shock. Always look prayerfully for an opening, which is not always obvious.
One of the verses that relates to these thoughts is Romans 14:1, "He that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations."
Changing the subject a bit, do you know if ICR has a video on the "bombardier beetle"? (You said you have a lot of their videos) It is one creature whose design obviously "proves" the fallacy of all evolution theories at one fell swoop.
I need a faster modem (am using a 14.4) to explore the internet. Found this site that has a lot of Creationism links: members.gnn.com
And this site, that has some amusing cartoons (aimed at kids) on creationism vs evolution: members.gnn.com
In the first cartoon, two secular teachers are conversing: Teacher one:"Some of my students were asking me if evolution is fact or theory." Teacher two:"What did you tell them?" 1: "Well, if they QUESTION evolution, they may DOUBT it; if they doubt it, they may look to other origin options. And you KNOW there's only one other option besides evolution!" 2: "Oh my, not THAT! So you told them evolution is a fact?" 1: "Of COURSE!"
