There are some spooky things about the name....ELE = Extinction Level Event, and ELEvin NINe, which is the date 9/11 (11/9/11 in international notation)...the date happens to be the projected perihelion of the comet. That is getting the "End Times" people excited.

More interesting, however, is that this is the only hyperbolic comet in recorded history to approach us from less than 2% angle to our solar system's ecliptic plane. It acts like it's a member of our solar system, yet may not be orbiting our sun.

Also usual is that it will pass between the sun and earth, which means we will float almost directly through the plasma tail in September (and later through the debris tail)

No one know how big the comet is yet.
