You want to know why there are political uprisings in Iran? The answer is simple: The population base has grown to the point that the oil revenue is no longer sufficient to keep the people in check. GWB was looking out 20, 30 or 50 years in his actions. The Iraqi people will forever remember who freed them from dictatorship. And it set the stage for popular uprisings throughout the region. We don't know how those will turn out (and likely, it will be different for different countries). But SOME of those countries will end up being better places to live, and the freeing of Iraqis was instrumental in making this happen.
