As for me, I regard shamanism and medicine men as primitive superstitions understandable in unlearned cultures of the past. Ditto for the modern new agey versions - pyramid power, channeling, scientology, etc. They seem to be based on nothing but wish fulfillment and if anything are sillier than the primitive version.

I came by these views based on stuff I learned this in college science, history, and (secular) religion courses btw. I was raised in a Baptist church but they never said anything at all about shamanism, spiritualism, etc since such things weren't in their social world - never entered their mind to think about it.
