CinemaStar Luxury Theaters Names Norman Dowling Vice President, Chief
Financial Officer

OCEANSIDE, CALIF. (Nov. 14) BUSINESS WIRE -Nov. 14, 1997--CinemaStar
Luxury Theaters Inc. (Nasdaq:LUXY) Friday announced the appointment of
Norman Dowling to the newly created position of vice president and
chief financial officer.

He will assume his new position Friday.

"We are extremely pleased to welcome Norman to the management team at
CinemaStar," said John Ellison Jr., president and chief executive
officer. "As CinemaStar continues to follow its strategic plan to
expand in underserved markets, we look forward to benefiting from his
depth of knowledge in domestic and international business and financial
affairs."

Dowling, 35, brings to his new position more than 15 years of
experience in senior management roles in finance and strategic business
management. Since 1993, Dowling was director of finance at Advanced
Marketing Services Inc. of San Diego, a publicly traded major
distributor of books and media-related products to the membership
warehouse club industry and other speciality retailers in the United
States, Canada, Mexico and the United Kingdom.

Previously, Dowling served as director of development and acquisitions
and as a controller for the operating group of Medical Imaging Centers
of America Inc., a publicly traded owner and operator of
high-technology medical imaging centers throughout the United States.

Before that, Dowling was finance director for a diverse group of
companies based in Dublin, Ireland, involved in the importation,
marketing and distribution of major electrical appliances. He also
served six years in public accounting with Ernst & Young.

Founded in 1989, CinemaStar Luxury Theaters currently operates seven
first-run movie theaters, and has a total of 69 screens in Southern
California. CinemaStar theaters feature high-quality projection and
sound capabilities, including LucasFilm THX Stereo Surround Sound
environment system in most auditoriums, along with luxury amenities
such as high-back reclining seats and extra-wide aisles between seat
rows.
