Your points are valid. There is not an urgency to the meeting, however I was trying to take advantage of both the fact that Dr Akins will be in NY (where I am based) and I will be in San Diego. I have full confidence in any other member going in my place, I just thought because I regularly meet with high level executives in my profession (executive recruiting for the high-tech industry, specialization in Communication/Network Infrastructure) that I could make a comfortable, professional presentation.
Also: Devoting one hour to a potentially positive PR event, IMHO, could be worh Dr Akins while. Considering PR is not one of our strongest areas, and successful management teams recognize areas of weakness and address them.
Finally: One e-mail I received was from an investor who has known Dr Akins since childhood, and said he was a 'regular guy' ,very approachable, and would probably WANT to talk to us.
