ElM, the G7 type economies are not dead. There is just some debt restructuring to do, some borrow and hope to be wiped clean, some overenthusiastic mortgagors to be taught about VVV, and their mortgagees too. That doesn't stop producers from producing. For every borrowed dollar there is a loaned dollar, perfectly balanced.

The main thing that's happening is that government spivs will have to get actual jobs. They have fleeced the flock and milked their captive cows dry. That's not a loss of production. Heck, if government departments closed up shop, my life would be easier.

Greece is no doubt still there, with accommodation providers touting for business. Now that you mention it, I'll be in the region for northern summer so perhaps I should consider Greece as a destination - they are perhaps offering bargains. I haven't been there for 36 years. The souvlaki was wonderful. The beaches beautiful. But the tanks on the roads, ready for war with Turkey, were unnerving. They drive quite quickly and are tricky to overtake.
