That's because Bob can move up in the standings but not break into the Top 4.

Interesting discussion on Mike & Mike about whether the tournament really crowns a true national champion. His analogy is a kid cramming for an exam the night before, acing it, then forgetting it a few days later... vs. a kid who truly learned the material, did almost as well on the test, but retained what he knew. Makes sense, except the alternative is the football bowl approach where every critic is screaming we need a true playoff system. I don't see any middle ground.

My feeling is that life is full of spur of the moment decisions. You learn to accept them. Be it the Lake Placid US Hockey team, the Giants beating New England a few years ago, Jim Valvano's NC State team, and so on, being the best means playing your best when your best is expected.
