Koan, > If you held on to the old ways in England it would still be ruled by a king and queen.
There are many key differences between the Founding Fathers of the American Revolution and the liberals of today.
One of them is the fact that the Founding Fathers actually defended what they believed in, both intellectually and in blood.
In contrast, I don't see liberals these days being able to defend what they believe in. Instead, they resort to ad hominem attacks and voting themselves more and more government power.
Revolutions based on human rights will always succeed. American Revolution, the Civil War, Women's Suffrage, etc.
Revolutions based on secular liberal wealth redistribution schemes will eventually fail. Communism, socialism, environmentalism, public employee unions, etc.
But if you want to go by the "dictionary" version of liberal and conservative, then I might be more "liberal" than you, at least when it comes to societal progress. Because when it comes down to what you believe in, it has all been tried before.
