Re the whole Middle East right now, my assumption is that a sea change is underway that will take a generation to play out. It will be messy and involve a string of political lurching between goals of outright secular democracy on the one hand and total autocracy on the other hand. What I'll be looking at will be new or amended Constitutions and new laws that accompany this. All of this, of course, is assuming the force for change in each of these countries isn't nipped in the bud by new military dictatorships. One reason I'm hopeful is because I have faith in young people to bring about generational change one way or another. This has been true throughout recorded history, and my guess is that this generation of ME young people is not impressed with what the generation before them has brought to pass. As well they should be.
