Perhaps a little on taxation.

Generally speaking, I think the total amount of state taxation (sales, property, and income) is too high in most states relative to the services that are needed from a state. This varies, of course, from one state to another.

At the same time, I think taxes should be raised at the federal level. The amount of income taxes collected, as a percentage of GDP has been in a downward trend for ten years. Currently, it is running at about 6-7% of GDP. I consider this too low relative to the services that are reasonable to expect from our particular federal government, i.e. the world's military superpower.

So even though my attitude toward taxes at the state level would put in the Republican camp, my attitude toward federal taxation right now aligns me with the left.
