My canary gold awareness index is still zero. Zilch. Nada. I've got about six reliable ones in my circle, plus a couple people here on SI <g>. When the tech bubble hit full stride, I had people I didn't even know showing me their stock picks a year before it peaked. Stock tips flowing in from moms of our kids' play dates. My wife bringing home tips from workmates. The RE bubble -- a sibling trying to get into flipping; others overpaying for a house near ours but bragging that 'housing never goes down' so it doesn't matter (her house has devalued about 35% according to Zillow). I don't expect any of that kind of stuff happening this year with respect to gold, and maybe not even next year. I think the big recognition wave in probably three to four years out, although all these gov'ts having their fake austerity blow up in their faces might accelerate that timeline.
