William, Personely I don't think the L3 cache will come to the PC world
very soon. Some complicated new supporting chips need to be designed.
However, once the PentiumPro without the builtin L2 cache is available,
the big system makers will immediately use it with large external L2
cache to build their highend machines.

My guess is that the SRAM situation now is somewhat similar to the DRAM
situation 2 or 3 years ago. People see the needs, but would only increase
it gradually as the users appreciate more. It won't take long for people to
realize though.

The demand of SRAM is increasing, and the price won't drop dramaticaly
before a lot of new fabs are bulit for that. That's why CY is expanding
their SRAM capacity.

This, plus those in my earlier postings, are my best understanding of the
SRAM situation. I believe it is more friendly to answer this way than
just saying "go read these WEB pages and those white papers."

Hope it helps. Thanks

JL.
