Hi, Pass Pass, the ad implies one X2 modem = 2 shares. 56Kbps fax/modem for $56... The implication is from them putting the X2 logo in the ad. So it may be a marketing ploy, but as a consumer I'm not doing anything until there's a standard - and I can't. Also, ISP's are reluctant to upgrade - they already have a tough time supporting the current standards, why would they want to go nonstandard. You don't have to be a CEO to realize that consumers and ISP's not going to eagerly buy unless there's a standard - it does me no good to buy an X2 modem if I can't use it. Also, as a software engineer, I question the claims of 100% software upgradable. There is a small chance that the standard could cause a hardware fix.
