Burning books is stupid. Examining the life and teachings of a religious leader is not. I'm sure I know what Jones will "discover," but those who disagree can make their own argument. This, IMHO, is a fair thing for a minister to be talking about.
"Comedy Central" chickened out about having a depiction of The Prophet on "Southpark." I think that was cowardly.
The radical Muslims are insane. Just because they have a belief doesn't mean they can kill anyone who disagrees.
One problem Americans have is that most know nothing about the history of Islam or its teachings. And just what is the mainstream of Islam? We know it is anti-female (except for Hillary Clinton <G>).
Some say Mohammad got most of his ideas from Ebionites, who were probably the survivors of the original group who followed James, the brother of Jesus. James, while he was alive, went to Synagougue, not to church, and argued against the teachings of the Christifier, Paul. Mohammad agreed with the Ebionites that the original message of Jesus had been corrupted by Paul.
Mohammad also taught to respect the "people of the book," Christians and Jews. Islamic radicals, not so much. <G> |
