There is nothing unethical about legally minimizing your tax liability. Esp. not when your still paying so much (20 percent average tax rate, much higher marginal tax rate, about as high of tax rate as other wealthy but much less wealthy people, higher average tax rate than the typical person or the typical payer of federal income tax (the 2nd rate being higher because many people do not pay federal income tax).

You don't like special tax breaks? I don't either. We should have a much simpler tax system, with far fewer credits, deductions etc., and lower base rates. That reduces the distortions and dead weight loss of the tax. It reduces the incentive to "game" the tax system. It would be good for the economy, and probably healthy for the politics of the country as well.

Are you a rich guy?

No but I'm not motivated by envy, I don't care to pull down or harm or try to control those who have more than I do.
