You are sadly mistaken if you think all 3D graphics and audio can be implemented on Intel's MMX. The horsepower required for decent 3D can NOT be gleaned from MMX, no matter what Intel says. They may do ok for simple 3D with a couple of thousand non-texture mapped polygons, but forget any ultra-realistic games. Graphics and audio will continue to improve and require greater hardware demands. The add-on market is not dead.
