4/8/11 Contest Update
The week’s Bull vs. Bear tug-of-war wound up pretty much a draw. At Friday’s close, the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 9.49% YTD (vs. up 8.07% YTD a week ago) and the Contest median was up 6.76% YTD (vs. up 6.73% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 4.81% YTD (vs. up 5.15% YTD a week ago).
MCBIO’s portfolio (up 33.77% YTD) continued to be our leader, with ROCKY’s portfolio (up 30.46% YTD) holding second place. Third place RRGE’s portfolio (up 27.81% YTD) had two of the week’s top 5 gainers (CRIS & IMGN) and is clearly in contention.
At Friday's close, 29 of the 38 Contest portfolios were in the black with 12 of the 38 beating the NBI.

Portfolio adjustments:
As noted in last week’s update, I used $34.838 as the buyout price for the J&J takeover of CRXL (24.75 Euros multiplied by 1.4076) and I reallocated the proceeds using the Friday, 4/1/11, closing prices for the two portfolios that held CRXL (MIKEM & PGO).
