I can't totally agree.

While the two styles are very different, combining them can be very valuable in minimizing risk.

I use screening techniques to identify stocks that I feel are undervalued and therefore have a limited downside (but also have wide enough intraday ranges to be of interest). Then use technicals to determine entry points.

Using stops to limit a loss on a play gone wrong is wise. But value limits the velocity of a fall, if you are wrong.
