Why would you expect a big drop at this point? Uncertainty yes, but what other superpower would step in to protect this guy now. I don't see nearly the threat of escalation that there was with Bush's whack at him.

In case Saddam hasn't looked behind him recently, Moscow is too busy converting to capitalism to be bothered with his brand of totalitarianism. He doesn't figure too prominently on many strategic interests lists, I'm thinking. In fact his rattling of "Weapons of Mass Destruction" kind of makes him a pariah. This stuff may give him swaggering rights in Iraq, but if push comes to bombs, I wouldn't expect much world outrage.
