Here's my prediction: Obama doesn't do details. He couldn't even do details on health care reform, which mattered to him more than anything. He waved the same moth-eaten and not very accurate generalities about time and time again. So he will do the same tomorrow, cribbing from Alan Simpson and Erskin Bowles here and there, and pretending he took them seriously instead of filing their report in the circular file. He'll fill in with lots of rhetoric about urgency and "tax fairness". He'll call for tax hikes on the rich. He'll blow smoke and mirrors about entitlements, but cut nothing.

The whole effort will be devoted to making Obama sound sort of centrist without any change in course. Having an alternate plan is not the point. Obama's job is only providing cover for others to go left, or stay left when things start to get hot.
