Not surprisingly, Pipeline MLPs exhibit a low correlation with the market (S&P 500), generating a median beta of just 0.61. MLP general partners produced the highest median beta (1.12), which makes intuitive sense, in our view, given the leveraged nature of the cash flow streams to general partners. Outperform rated MLPs include: EPD, DPM, PAA, KMR and BWP.
