People on this thread keep trying to get me to take the "I'm pro abortion argument". Nowhere in my posts did I make a case for abortion. Funding for Planned Parenthood, yes. Gov't funds for abortion no. Grasping why women have abortions and being for them are two different things.

I am making a case for hypocrisy from the religious right. I stand by all of my posts.

Women are not going back to the times prior to birth control(I am for Planned Parenthood for that reason as I believe it provides much needed services to women in that area). I have talked with young women many times regarding birth control and the issue of unplanned pregnancy. The thing that I share with them is that an unplanned pregnancy and a child sooner than they expected is a detour on the road of life. It is not life ruining. It changes your route and complicates things, but it is a blessing. I also talk about the potential loss of what would have been, the grief they will feel, and the wondering they will always have, if they terminate a pregnancy.

In our circle of family and friends, we have two young women that have become pregnant out of wedlock. They have received total love and acceptance and support from our family and other family and friends. Both fathers involved have stepped up to the plate. One couple is now married and the child is a year old. The other couple is about 5 months along and unmarried so far, but father is definitely in the picture. A far cry from the way things were in years past.

One way to stop abortions is to look at the reasons women have abortion and address those problems. In my opinion abstinence has never been, or ever will be the answer for a whole lotta people.
