<i<my son wanted to go to south beach - so we drove past places on both florida coasts and didn't see many places - no appointments - son was bored with brokers - and brokers represent sellers - and didn't have super deals for me. i liked miami - south beach - but, would i want to live there. some restaurants are a fortune. i hear re hassles, crime. and i am a bit old for the scene. but, i like the beach and having a walkway just west of the sand, too.

Based on what I have heard, I recommend "going West": Naples area. Despite being an old-timer on SI, I still consider myslef young, and I can't take South Beach or Miami for extended doses of time. That's why I live Ft. Lauderdale.

Good luck.

By the way, 3 bidders against me on the short-sale. Despite what Mish says, it's competitive and definitely turning FAST.
