I would say that Rush Limbaugh, Hugh Hewitt and Mark Levin were incensed at Obama's demagoguing the budget but not really surprised. They had all predicted a political speech.

But Paul Ryan sounded both frustrated and angry. He thought that Obama would at least address the policy issue of the deficit. Instead Ryan sat right in the front row and had to listen to Obama talk about how he, Ryan, wanted to throw Grandma off the train and didn't want tax hikes because he doesn't want the rich to pay their fair share.

I feel confirmed in my own prediction: Obama doesn't do details. Obama sees himself as "the talent". But I also agree with Mickey Kaus and Jay Cost; Obama is just not that talented. Pure paleolib class warfare stuff. It won't cut the mustard.

I'd love to hear what the saner members of the Democratic caucus are saying to each other in private tonight.
