I tried to carry on conversation on the View From the Center thread. By and large I would have to say the responses were civil, but the problem that I had with that thread was if I originated one tiny little idea or responded to one of theirs, the resulting responses would take up my time for a week. From just one! I also found that they could not handle the fact that I disagreed with them but I was friendly. They thought I "pretended to be friendly." They would lurk over here, and if I commented here on PfP on something I learned there, they would attack me. I didn't mind that so much, but I have no time for people who can't accept friendship from somebody they disagree with. Finally I concluded that the wasted time was not justified, so I just quit. That was over a year ago and life is much simpler now. I continue to learn, however, that liberals are very intolerant and have great difficulty separating debate from friendship. Even if you follow their rules on their turf, they expect you to follow their rules on your own turf whenever you react to something they say or do.
