The Ryan Plan doesn't eliminate Medicare. It simply takes it out of government hands. Out of the hands of the same government that has managed to wreck our health care system over the course of 45 short years.

Old people will still have health care paid for by their Medicare taxes. But it will be managed by competent, private enterprises rather than a bloated federal/state government.

While politically infeasible, this is undoubtedly the closest to a true solution to our fiscal problems as any that has ever been proposed.

We didn't have problems with out of control healthcare costs until the government got involved in 1966.
