Norton Drilling Services, Inc. Announces Management Changes

LUBBOCK, Texas, Nov. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Norton Drilling Services, Inc. (Nasdaq: NORT - news) today announced the appointment of S. Howard Norton, III as President and Chief Executive Officer and John W. Norton as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, effective December 1, 1997.
Sherman H. Norton, Jr. will resign the positions of President and Chief Executive Officer at that time, but shall remain as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Company.
''This is the culmination of our efforts to refocus the company on its core drilling services business and provide new ideas and energetic leadership for the future,'' said Sherman H. Norton, Jr., Chairman of the Board.
S. Howard Norton has been a member of senior management at Norton Drilling Company since 1982 and has served on the Board of Directors of Norton Drilling Services, Inc. since 1991. John W. Norton has been a member of senior management at Norton Drilling Company since 1987 and has served on the Board of Directors of Norton Drilling Services, Inc. since 1991.
Norton Drilling Services, Inc. is a holding company with one operating subsidiary, Norton Drilling Company. Norton Drilling Company, headquartered in Lubbock, Texas, owns sixteen drilling rigs. Of the sixteen rigs, thirteen operate in the Permian Basin area of West Texas and Eastern New Mexico, including two diesel electric rigs. The Company also operates two rigs in Southwest Wyoming.
