The truth is that the taxes beared only a loose relationship to the benefits. This is something that even the staunchest defender of SS and Medicare understands but can never admit.

Why? Because they need to perpetuate the myth that beneficiaries are actually getting what they paid into the system. "I worked for decades paying my dues, why should I not get what I'm entitled to?"

Only problem is that they didn't pay their dues. They only paid someone else's dues. The Great Ponzi Scheme.

We need someone like Paul Ryan to describe this in plain language to the American public. Otherwise, this Ponzi scheme will continue until it has either bankrupted the nation or caused massive inflation.
