Thread, This's just in--from Bloomberg News: _________ U.S. Stocks Rise as Investors Take Heart in Stability U.S. stocks rose as investors grew more confident that a repeat of last month's plunge in stock prices isn't in the cards. Eli Lilly & Co. and International Business Machines Corp. led the gains. A 157-point drop Wednesday in the Dow Jones Industrial Average triggered concern that stocks were headed down to the levels seen in the Oct. 27 sell-off. The market's rebound since then -- especially Thursday's snapback, when the Dow industrials went from down 51 points to up 86 at the close -- has many investors saying prices at least will hold steady in coming days as buyers step in when prices drop.
