I just read the Emerald Research report (I believe it was free since I don't recall paying), and it mainly talks about the MCI relationship and why this is beneficial for making Zip a standard.

It also mentioned the new competition coming from Mitsumi and Swan. But it also indicated the technology is not expected to be available until mid 1997. That sounds like a death sentence since that would probbaly be far too late for it.
